Qi Men Ahead Privacy Policy

Effective date: 3 October 2026

Qi Men Ahead is operated by Daniel Siew (Siew Kum Loong), based in Malaysia. This policy explains what information the Qi Men Ahead app and website collect, why, and your choices. Contact: connect@danielsiew.com

1. What we collect

Account information: your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.

Your questions and readings: the questions you ask, the Qi Men chart created for each question (including the date and time used), the readings we return, and your conversation history.

Optional feedback: answers you choose to give to short reflection cards shown after some readings.

Purchases and credits: your question balance, subscription status and purchase records. Card payments on our website are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. In-app purchases, when available, are handled by Apple or Google.

On your device: a secure sign-in token stored in your device's secure storage, and simple app settings (such as theme) stored only on your device.

Install identifier: the app creates a random identifier for your installation and sends it with its requests, for use only in preventing abuse of free readings; it contains nothing about you or your device, and we do not store it in readable form.

Security logs: we use your IP address briefly to limit repeated requests, and a failed password sign-in writes it to our server logs. If you ask for an email sign-in code, we keep a hash of your IP address with that code's record, apart from your account record and also after your account is deleted; the hash is not anonymous, because an IP address can be worked out from it.

Launch interest list: if you register your interest on our website before launch, we keep your email address, the date and time you registered, and a record that you agreed to be emailed once. We keep nothing else from that form.

On our public web page we count page views and taps on buttons as totals only. These counts use no cookies, are not linked to you, and do not include your IP address or anything you type.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, your device's advertising identifier, or any identifier built into your device's hardware or operating system. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics tools from other companies, and we do not sell your information.

2. Why we use it

To run your account and sign you in; to generate your readings; to show your history; to manage credits and purchases; to keep the service secure; and to improve Qi Men Ahead. Reflection card answers may be studied in anonymised, combined form to improve the product.

We use the launch interest list to send you one email telling you that Qi Men Ahead has launched. We do not use it for any other marketing.

3. Who processes your information for us

Anthropic: your questions and chart details are sent to Anthropic's AI service to generate readings.

Fly.io: hosts our servers and database (Singapore region).

Stripe: processes website payments.

Apple and Google: process in-app purchases, when available.

Resend: sends our emails, including the launch email.

Google Fonts: our website loads fonts from Google, which can see your IP address when the fonts load. The app carries its own fonts and does not load them from Google.

We share information with these providers only to run the service, and never for their own advertising.

4. International transfers

Our servers are in Singapore, and some providers (such as Anthropic) process data in other countries including the United States. We use reputable providers and only share what is needed.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days. We keep purchase and billing records for up to 7 years where Malaysian tax and accounting law requires it. We may keep information that has been fully anonymised so it can no longer identify you. If you delete your account yourself, in the app or on the website, our record of the deletion shows only a masked form of your address (such as d***@example.com); if we created your account, including when you bought on our website before having one, or if we deleted it for you on request, our admin records keep your full address.

After you delete your account we also keep, with no end date, a keyed hash of your email address recording that it has had its free question (so it cannot be claimed again), and plain hashes of your address on your sign-in records and on any sign-in code we sent you; none of these shows your address, but anyone who already knows it could match it to them; and, if a purchase of yours was refunded or disputed, a plain hash of your address marking that it cannot receive a free question.

We delete the launch interest list within 30 days after the launch email is sent. You can remove your address sooner with the unsubscribe link in that email, or by emailing connect@danielsiew.com.

6. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, without asking us. In the app: open the menu, tap your account, then Delete Account. On the website: our Account Deletion page. Either way it happens straight away, and you type your email address to confirm it.

If you cannot sign in at all, email connect@danielsiew.com from your account email with the subject "Delete my account". We will confirm and complete deletion within 30 days.

7. Your rights

Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and similar laws, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, or ask us to stop using it. Contact connect@danielsiew.com.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, secure token storage on your device, and restricted server access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Age

Qi Men Ahead is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

10. Not professional advice

Qi Men Ahead provides decision guidance based on Qi Men Dun Jia. It does not provide medical, legal or financial advice.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email.
